Pterourus glaucus canadensis

Canadian tiger swallowtails make one generation a year to then spend the winter as a chrysalis. On ash, this butterfly is difficult to raise in captivity.

Still here are the results.

The caterpillar deployes smelly antenna if it's agressed. The caterpillar becomes brown just before molting into a chrysalis.

You can see the wings of the butterfly appear through the pupae the day before it comes out.
